2 SEP: SEB COX WORKSHOP

On Tuesday 2nd September our trainees went to visit Sebastian Cox at his inspiring workshop in Margate. The trainees got some behind the scenes experience of what it is like to work ethically and sustainably with natural materials, creating bespoke wooden furniture. Seb is uncompromisingly waste-free, ensuring he uses every single part of the trees he sources - he also manages, plants and maintains woodlands locally.

Here’s what one of our trainees had to say about his visit to Sebastian Cox’s workshop.

“I appreciated his insight into the philosophy of wood! I liked the atmosphere and appreciated that he seems to treat his employees well and he was very passionate about his work!”
Harry, Trainee

Experiences like these are paramount to our trainees personal and professional development - at Seb’s workplace and those like it, our trainees gain important insight and get a feel for what is out there. When young people are given the opportunity to work in jobs they’re interested in and care about - they’re much more likely to work hard and stick with it.
