July's Guest Chef: Adriana Zanchi

As many of you will know, last month our guest chef was the highly aclaimed cook, educator and grower - Adriana Zanchi. Adriana generously volunteered her time, knowledge and expertise to The Perfect Place To Grow, designing and preparing her dishes and working alongside our trainees. Adriana shared her own personal experiences of working in kitchens with spina bifida with our trainees, and how we can overcome barriers to not only employment, but personal fulfillment.

Together, Adriana and our trainees, Canaan, Bradley and Harry prepared two dishes that we then sold throughout the week at The Perfect Place To Grow Cafe.

🥗 a vibrant salad with spelt and summer vegetables to inspire and encourage you to visit Windmill Community Gardens. You can support this amazing and thriving community hub by buying the produce grown there (they offer weekly a market stall and veg bags!), volunteering with them or participating in the great variety of activities, events and courses they have on offer.

🍒 a Trifle-misù made with fig leaf custard and cherries. What is Trifle-misù you might wonder? Think of a fruity and creamy dessert that combines the best of tiramisù and trifle, the Britalian child of an Italian cook living in the UK.

Thank you SO much to Adri and to Windmill Community Gardens for supporting The Perfect Place To Grow and committing so much of their time and resources to help our trainees and raise funds for TPPTG cafe.
