12-13 APRIL: A TASTE OF CYPRUS
Join us on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 April for our Cypriot open weekend showcase, where trainees will serve up a Mediterranean menu alongside local chef, Steph Dickinson.
From 12-4pm you can enjoy Koupepia stuffed vine leaves, potato and aubergine Moussaka, Pourgouri bulgar wheat pilaf and Gigantes Plakis baked giant beans, followed by Melopita Sifnos honey and cheese pie and Melomakarona olive oil cookies.
Steph has run successful supperclubs in Margate for a number of years, and we’re delighted that she’ll be sharing her craft with The Perfect Place to Grow community. Trainees have been learning how to cook Steph’s favourite dishes, and will be working the lunchtime service with her to further their training and development.
Steph says: “Cooking Cypriot food takes me back to watching my γιαγιά (grandmother) and relatives gathered around, cooking together — especially κουπέπια stuffed vine leaves. We would spend hours picking vine leaves from her garden in North London, rolling these little pockets of delight, and chatting. Cypriot food is warming, generous, and brings people together, much like my γιαγιά herself.
“I’m honoured to be the guest cook for The Perfect Place to Grow this April, sharing some of my Cypriot heritage with you all. I can’t wait to cook alongside the incredible young people, create something special together, and have fun while we’re at it!”
No reservation needed, just turn up! Find us through the gates, in the red brick building at The Perfect Place to Grow at 99 Victoria Road, Margate on the site of @tkestudios.
